Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import my existing unit data?

You can upload a CSV file using the Import Units tool under Settings, or use the legacy platform migration tool if you are coming from a legacy platform. The importer maps your columns to ElevaTechPro fields and flags any data issues before committing.

Does the mobile app work offline?

Yes. The technician mobile app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works fully in airplane mode. Inspection data, checklist items, and photos are stored locally in IndexedDB and sync automatically when connectivity is restored.

How do I set up jurisdiction rules?

Navigate to Settings > Jurisdictions. From there you can configure per-AHJ rules including Cat 1 and Cat 5 intervals, filing deadlines, QEI requirements, and certificate renewal periods. Rules are pre-populated for all 48 covered states.

Can building managers access the portal?

Yes. Building managers access the customer portal via an email-based login. Their access is automatically scoped to only the buildings assigned to them — they cannot see other customers' data. No password is required; a secure link is sent to their email each time they log in.

How does the compliance calendar work?

The compliance engine reads each unit's last test date and applies the jurisdiction-specific interval rules to calculate the next due date. Deadlines are displayed on the compliance calendar, color-coded by urgency, and PM work orders can be batch-created in one click.

What ASME checklists are included?

ElevaTechPro includes Cat 1 and Cat 5 templates for traction elevators, hydraulic elevators, escalators, dumbwaiters, LULAs, and wheelchair lifts. All 167+ checklist items include ASME A17.1 code section references and can be supplemented with custom items per jurisdiction.

How do I connect QuickBooks?

Go to Settings > Integrations > QuickBooks and click Connect. You will be redirected through the QuickBooks OAuth2 authorization flow. Once connected, invoices and payments sync automatically. Both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop (via IIF export) are supported.

What happens when a tech marks an item as Fail?

When a checklist item is marked as Fail during an inspection, ElevaTechPro automatically creates a Violation record linked to that inspection. The violation is assigned a severity level (Minor, Major, or Critical) based on the checklist item configuration, and a follow-up work order is generated for the repair.
